Happy New Year! I hope that all your wishes come true in the new year. I'm very excited to be writing my first blog post of 2018. I have so much planned for Graphic Organic and I cannot wait to share it with you. But saying goodbye to December is always a bit sad. The most wonderful time of the year is over. I'm going to miss my red and white candy cane themed Christmas tree, my gingerbread men leggings and watching lame Christmas movies. As much as I love December, the parties and festivities put a toll on our bodies. Like every month, I wrote down three items that helped to make my chronic life a bit easier.
1) #DoYourYoga Mat
I had been avoiding getting a yoga mat for a long time. Why would I need one? I am not a fitness guru by all means and I can do my 10 minute PT workout perfectly on the carpet. That is to say, I could, till my dog started to moult and I was basically laying on a carpet of dog hair. It was about time for a decent mat. Honestly, I had no idea what the difference is between the thousand sorts of different mats. I decided to go with the #DoYourYoga ECO mat with memory foam PVC. Yes, it was one of the first mats that popped up after a google search and yes, also because it's purple. The mat is financially affordable and of good quality. Which is needed when you have a one year old dog walking around the house, who still thinks he is a puppy and chews on every object. I like how long this mat is. I'm quite tall and I was afraid it was not going to be long enough. Yeah, I didn't check the size before I bought it. Judge me all you want but I'm sure you are all guilty of this too ;). It's not too thick so you can roll it up easily. It's also not too thin so it doesn't feel like you're laying on the cold hard floor.
2) Book: The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*** by Mark Manson
I've seen many bloggers post about this book on social media. The bright orange cover and the catchy title made me very curious. When I read the summary of how this is a book for self-help haters, I knew I had to get a copy. Even though I am a sucker for self-help books this one got my attention because it was something I never saw before. Manson says life is not about being positive, but about choosing wisely what to care about. (Or what to give a F about.) I didn't agree with everything but his pretty harsh words made me realize that the world will keep on spinning if you make a mistake. Manson makes some good points about things we secretly know but don't want to hear. I also really like how he introduced each theme with a story from a famous person, from Malala to The Beatles. The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*** is a real eye-opener and reality check.
3) Electric Heated Under Blanket
I have my electric heated blanket for about two years now. I always put it on high temperature, get ready for bed, get cosy and watch some TV. Usually I put it off before I go to sleep but this month my joints and muscles were more sore than ever due to holiday festivities. When you have painsomnia you try anything for a good night sleep. On a cold December night I left my blanket on low temperature for the entire night. It's a great pain reliever that keeps your entire body warm.
